Public speaking is an art that can be learnt. Any art takes time in learning. It depends on the kind of art and the level of perfection that the days and months take to learn it. Speaking is a very important art know to not too many. Every one speaks but few know the art of speaking. With the basic trait of speaking in the human being, the public speaking is very different from day to day conversations.
Yes, it is true, the art of public speaking can be learnt in 5 days
The basic issue in public speaking is the level of confidence. Far too many people are expert in chit chat but you ask them to go to the stage and introduce themselves, they will be found wanting. They do not have the minimum of confidence to express their names, their education and the address etc. their legs tremble at the very thought of standing before the audience. Unfortunately, this kind of basic confidence is lacking more in ladies than the gents.
The house wives who are not exposed to the outer world that much, they lack in self confidence of standing before the audience and making a speech. This trait, though is not uniform. We have the ordinary house wives a ‘Sarpanch’ of a village, the legislatures and other public representatives. It all depends upon their exposure to the outer world.
We, at Academy of Skills Development employ certain techniques of enforcing confidence in the participants. These techniques are employed in a vert subtle way. The confidence develops in the participant slowly while we are playing the game. It is ensured each participant plays the game in his or her own way. It is during this participation, the participant does not know that he has started speaking before the audience. The confidence becomes a force multiplier.
We conduct certain exercises to boost up the confidence of the participant by participative methods. When the participant experiences that his coparticipant is performing, it further encourages him to perform. Their lies the technique. We make use of group synergy every day in every session. During game play and cooperative exercises and with the group synergy into play, the participant is full of confidence at the end of the fifth day.
Public speaking does not necessary mean that the person is able to deliver speech just like the politicians in 5 days. That is a different ball game altogether. Public speaking here means the participant can face the audience without getting nervous. Thereafter with practice he becomes proficient in the art of public speaking.
Public speaking is very helpful in the career advancement of the person when he must face the interview boards for the job, face the labour unions in particular assignments, or deliver a welcome or farewell speech in the official functions. Similarly for the women folk, this art is very helpful in their jobs if they are working, in parties, in meetings, for cracking jokes or storytelling and become a part of the group. Otherwise they just attend the party and come back without enjoying the group unless they have the confidence to speak.
A person who speaks very well with enough confidence and enthusiasm is the forerunner in the party. Everyone looks at him for lead. He is the leader and a strong personality. He leaves a strong impression.
The public speech of Swami Vivekanand Ji delivered at Chicago, America in September 1893, is being quoted even after 130 years being an iconic public speech not for its content but much more for its delivery, style and confidence. The speeches of former Prime Minister Sh. Atal Bihari Vajpayee are also famous for the delivery style.
In 5 days, the basics of public speaking are inculcated into the participants. Rest depends a lot on the practice. we recommend that you must speak at the public platform whenever you get a chance.
Speak at the welcome functions, farewell addresses, society meetings, cut jokes, sing a song during parties and grab every such opportunity to horn your public speaking skills. With time, you will become an effective public speaker.
